046: A Valentine’s Story
It was love at first sight! Your thoughts were consumed. You were obsessed.
And for the first few years it was exciting and rewarding. It seemed like this relationship would last forever.
Then, slowly over time…it just wasn’t what it used to be anymore. The relationship became work.
You tried hard to resurrect things—to bring things back to the good old days…but to no avail. It just wasn’t fun anymore.
But rather than accept it and move on, you kept fighting the inevitable—even after you could clearly see the writing on the wall.
Then one day, you finally called it quits and said goodbye.
And then, a funny thing happened. After the initial grieving period—a couple weeks later—you start to feel HAPPY again.
You get that spring back in your step that you were missing since the relationship went south and you wonder—why didn’t I do this a long time ago?
Why did I choose to be miserable when I didn’t need to be?
Does this story sound familiar to you? I bet it does. We’ve all been there.
But, in this story, I’m not talking about a relationship with a person but rather a relationship with a job or a business.
The emotions are the same in many regards.
Is it time to move on from your job? Is it time to spread your wings and do what it takes to be happy?
Maybe you have a business that you have been pouring your heart and money into that just doesn’t seem to be working out anymore.
Maybe it’s time to call it quits? Sometimes it is smart to quit while you are behind. What’s the point in dragging something out that isn’t awesome?
If it’s working, put it (and you) out of its misery. Move on.
Only do it if if it brings you happiness.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
